Happy are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness. Tonight the realization came to me of how hungry I am for a move of God in my soul. I would love to get lost in the presence of God. I must draw near to Jesus. He is my life. My soul thirsts for a renewal of living water springing up inside of my spirit.

My first thought was that if I can get into the conspicuous presence of God I will be happy. Then I look more closely at the words of my Lord. He said we would be happy (blessed) if we hunger. The end result is that we shall be filled. But the description of the hungering and thirsting soul as happy (blessed) precedes the promise of fulfillment.

Should the journey toward fulfillment be an unhappy trek? Not if I read the scriptures correctly. Hungering and thirsting carry with it the appellation, “happy.” Keep hungering. Keep thirsting. Continue in your quest. But every now and then stop along the journey and count your blessings. There is no life as wonderful as the life of one who longs for all that God provides.
